5 Reasons Why Writing is a Tool for HEALING!

Most of the people who purchase my writing program or gratitude journal, are not professional writers, neither do they desire to be. They simply want an inexpensive outlet to learn how to work through some old wounds that may be holding them back from manifesting positive relationships, better finances or happiness in general.

.

My first novel, Low Places: A Fearless Tale of Redemption, came to me when I felt like I was on the brink of giving up in life. I had been through so much strife, some brought on by others but the majority, self-inflicted. I just wanted to be better. I wanted to tell my story without interruption or the need to hold back. So, I took all that pain and spilled it onto my paper. Telling my truths made me feel like a new woman.

.

Here is why writing heals:

1. Putting your thoughts on paper provide CLARITY, you began to organize your thoughts, understand your emotions and find the right words.

2. You become more OPEN to seeing your situation for what it is. Writing is unlike speaking in that it requires deliberate focus and honesty. It makes you reevaluate why you feel a certain way. Its your “YOU” time where you can step back and carve out a peaceful moment in your day.

3. It builds CONFIDENCE, so often we walk around feeling tarnished and overrun by how the world feels about us, but we rarely take the time to think about how we feel about us. A regular journal practice will build us up regardless of what people may think or feel about us. We began to create our own peace.

4. We learn to COMMUNICATE better. Have you ever been in a heated argument with someone close to you and everything that you know is your truth was bubbling up right at the surface, but you didn’t have the clarity or the words to get it out? Writing helps you peacefully and clearly state what you feel and why it is important. Great writers debate peacefully and thoughtfully.

5. Its like taking out the TRASH. So often we walk around with heavy thoughts and feels related to one topic or another. We hold onto people and ideas that don’t even apply to our lives anymore. Our brain becomes like an old computer that needs a memory dump before it can operate smoothly again. Writing is like a laxative for the spirit. (lol)
