3 Reasons Why Conferences are So Important!

This weekend I have had an amazing time at Lisa Nichols, Speak and Write to Make Millions Conference in La Jolla, California. La Jolla is absolutely beautiful, from tall, green hills to awe inspiring ocean views, it has been the perfect setting to relax, relate and re-set.

To me, conferences are a necessity for anyone interested in personal and/or professional development. The most important rule about heading to conferences is to read the back story on the organization and decide whether they can help you achieve your goals and then commit to getting there.

The three biggest reasons I attend conferences are to be submerged into my area of expertise with mentors, to network with other like-minded individuals and to invest in myself and my craft.

To be submerged with a great mentor is priceless. You have access to a master teacher who has successfully accomplished goals that are similar to those of your own. You can ask questions and get the personal touch that is not always accessible through video and blog posts.

Networking is another good reason to attend. If you ever feel as though you are surrounded by people who don’t understand your plight and who can’t identify with your perspective, a conference will definitely expose you to people with a similar mindset. The people in the room are potential coauthors, business partners and investors. The opportunities to connect are endless and the amount of people who can help you is often overwhelming. Without these conferences people that fit this need in my life might not be readily available.

Lastly, investing in myself is one of the most important responsibilities I have to myself. I want to be the best version of Jameelah, and to get there I need guidance and support. If I am not secure in my position as an expert in my field, I am not able to run a business that is efficient and profitable. I need to know what is important in my field and what is important to me, and then find a way to make those avenues cross paths. I don’t have access to this data if I’m not in the room.

If you are serious about upgrading your life, either professionally or personally, you can’t afford not to dedicate yourself to being a lifelong learner and conferences are great places for both personal and professional growth.
