Don’t forget about what’s working

This year I find myself at a major crossroads. I am in the process of deciding what the second half of my life will look like, feel like, and how I will ultimately impact others. I enjoy public speaking, writing books and teaching. I use my God-given talents to make a positive impression within the world.
Some days I don't feel as though I am doing enough, or that I have enough, or that I am giving enough. On these days, I focus on what I see as my shortcomings and how these perceived shortcomings are interfering with my greatness; slowing me down, or killing my dream.
Too often we forget about the WINS. The big wins and the small wins. My health is good; I’m winning! My children’s health is good; we’re winning! We have a roof over our heads; winning! We have a car; winning! You get the point.
During times of self-doubt it can be challenging to remember who we are at our core and what we bring to the table; our past accomplishments, and the many issues we DON’T have to worry about.
I remember what’s working by keeping a daily gratitude journal, where I list everything from having a bed to sleep in to having mental stability. This is the type of score keeping I can get with.
I also sit in silence and recall past experiences that weren’t so favorable and then I reflect on how far I have come today. This fosters humility and confidence, that I can meet any challenge presented to me.
And lastly, I remember where I’m headed and how important it is to have a strong and stable self-worth in order to be of assistance to others. If I don’t love who I am and what I stand for, then who will?
So, while I transition into the unknown and continue to march forward with great determination, I practice focusing on the beauty in my life, from the small to the big; the sad to the happy; the valley’s and the peaks.
I am mindful that everything is ALWAYS working together for my GREATER good.
Love,
Jameelah
